News from ThrillNetwork

I am a coaster enthusiast. That means I like to ride coasters and I get a certain thrill from riding them to the point were I can never get sick of them. Sure, I may get sick of riding a coaster after so many times in a row, but that doesn't mean I won't ride it again. Since I last rode a coaster in 2002, I have ridden 31 coasters at four parks with a combined ride count of over 222 since 1995. Yes, I have been slightly disadvantaged (sometimes I just can't afford it), but I do it whenever I possibly can. However, I do have a PalmOS database (using the program HanDBase) that keeps my coaster count and the number of times I have ridden each coaster.

I also like to ride some of the other rides, but I have to be in the right mood. Some call these rides "flat rides" or "stationary rides", but those are incorrect terms. The truth is, you can't really group them under one big term unless you want to use "thrill ride" or "amusement ride". You have categories such as children's rides, family rides, extreme rides, tower rides, water rides, and giant rides. Roller Coasters are a category of their own category (which is quite obvious).

In 2001, I joined a site called ThrillNetwork, a community for Coaster Enthusiasts. I started out as a lowly member in June of 2001, and within a short time was made the first chat moderator. Afterwards, I slowly gained privilages until I became a site co-administrator in 2002. In January of 2003, I was named Systems Administrator, which officially broadens my duties to include maintaining the site's security and uptime. By the way, you can view my full coaster count here.

2002 was a very big year for me. I not only got to visit a few parks, but I got to work in two of them, Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Point. At Michigan's Adventure (MA for short), I worked on over 14 rides, including 5 roller coasters. At Cedar Point (CP for short), I only worked on one... Magnum XL-200. My favorite rides to work on were Mad Mouse and Shivering Timbers at MA, and Magnum at CP. If you are a coaster enthusiast, and have an excellent work ethic and care about the guests, you should consider working for a park (and not just for the side benefits, like getting in for free, riding on test rides, and so forth). If you're there just for the benefits, you're there for the wrong reason, and might end up getting you fired or you having to quit because you can't cut it there.

Below I have written reviews of the rides I have ridden or operated. I have ranked them on a 1-10 color-coded scale, and given some facts for the rides as well. I hope you find them useful as I do in writing them.
